Two letters written by Increase Sumner, the governor of Massachusetts, concerning complaints about the conduct of Sheriff Henderson during a visit of President George Washington. The letters inform the selectmen of Boston (the complaintants) and Henderson when the issue is to be brought before the Council. Written at Boston, Mass.

George Washington (b. Feb. 22, 1732, Westmoreland County, Va.-d. Dec. 14, 1799, Mount Vernon, VA) was the first president of the United States, serving from 1789 to 1797.
